Missouri Equine Limited Liability Law

The Missouri Equine Council works hard for the equine industry and one of our proudest accomplishments was the enactment of the Equine Limited Liability Law (SB457) that was signed into law in 1994. The purpose of the law is to provide protection from liability for equine professionals under specific circumstances. One aspect of the law is the requirement to post a specific warning sign(s) to put persons who rent, board, trail ride or engage in any equine activity on notice that they are responsible for their own safety when engaging in equine activities

The law is very particular about size of lettering on the signs and locations where they are posted. Read the full text of the Equine Limited Liability Law (RSMo. 537.325) at: http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/c500-599/5370000325.htm

Signs that meet the law's criteria are available from the MEC.
